Starter gear
Gear supports the decision; it is not a separate hobby here. Three setups, each honest about what it changes and what it doesn’t.
Setup 1 — Use what you have
A basic drip machine and seller-ground coffee already beat café spending. Buy ground for drip (a medium grind), match flavor with the finder, and price the habit with the cost sheet. New gear optional; nothing to buy from us.
Cost to start A bag of coffee. That’s the whole list.
Setup 2 — The pour-over bench
The cheapest deliberate brew method to learn, and the one that makes the finder’s bright, fruity options shine. Three pieces:
- V60 Pour-Over Starter (dripper + filters) — the cone and filters; the method itself.
- Encore ESP Grinder — whole bean stops being a chore once this is on the counter.
- Primo Kitchen Scale — the piece that turns the cost sheet from a guess into a fact.
Gear links are ordinary retailer searches — check the current price there. We deliberately don’t copy prices onto this page.
Setup 3 — The one upgrade
If you change one thing about your coffee, change the grind. A burr grinder improves every method you own — drip included — more than any new brewer will. Everything else on this page is optional; this is the only gear we’d call necessary.
