How the matching scores work — the printed rules
  1. Hard rules — an entry is out if: you need ground coffee and it ships whole-bean only; you need decaf and it isn’t; you said one-time bags and it is a subscription or sampler; its indicative mid-price per 12 oz is above your budget band.
  2. Points on the rest — +3 for each of your flavor families its notes map to (up to three, so +9 maximum); +2 if its brew methods include yours; +1 if it lets you choose grind at checkout while you need ground.
  3. Three results — closest match: highest points. Lower-cost alternative: among entries at 60% of the leader’s points, the cheapest per 12 oz. Something different: among entries at 50%, the fewest flavor families shared with the closest match.

Per-cup estimates assume 20 g of coffee a cup and use the midpoint of the indicative price range. That is an estimate for comparison, not a quoted price. When results appear, each carries its own commission disclosure beside the retailer links.
